"I wish I could knit."

Have you ever said that?

Well, you can. I'll teach you how. We will first learn the basics of the knit and purl stitches and then after some practice, we will cast on stitches on double pointed needles to knit up simple and chic fingerless gloves! We will also learn how to bind off, weave in ends, and read a basic knitting pattern. Depending on how fast you pick things up, you will have by the end of class, one glove or a pair of gloves or several pairs of gloves knitted and ready to wear or give as gifts.

  • Arrive & Settle: 9:00 :: Time to arrive, and settle in.
  • Class Segment A: 9:30-12:00 :: Class time with Jenny who will demonstrate and guide the 1st part of class.
  • Lunch & Stroll: 12:00 PM :: You can choose to brown bag it or take a stroll to one of the many hip and artsy eateries in the historic Artist's Village in Santa Ana, like C4 Deli, Chapter One, and The Gypsy Den. I will personally make myself available to stay in the studio to continue knitting during the lunch hour for those who want to continue knitting.
  • Class Segment B: 1:30-4:30 PM :: Class time with Jenny who will guide the 2nd part of class.
  • Show & Tell, Clean-Up & Depart: 4:30-5:00 PM

  • A set of double-pointed needles, size 6.
  • In terms of yarn, I have plenty of yarn from my stash that I will provide that you can knit a pair of gloves with. Having said that, I may not have the exact color that your heart desires, in which case you may decide to go buy a skein of yarn per pair of gloves that you want to knit. If you decide to do this, look for a medium weight yarn with the number 4 on the yarn band. It can be 100 percent wool or 100 percent acrylic or a wool and acrylic blend. If you have scrap yarn that is thinner, bring them all and we may decide that you can blend two thin yarns together, which is what I did with the brown/beige pair that you see here. (Please know that if you bring 100 percent wool, you will need to make sure that you don't put the finished gloves in the washer and dryer but rather hand-wash and air-dry them.)

  • Due to limited class size, the spot for this class is transferable but payment is non-refundable. Please read about this policy in our Studio Policies.
